The largest and most powerful plane in the world was made in Ukraine. The giant An-225, also known as the “Dream”, was built in 1988 at the Antonov factory. The plane is listed in the Guinness Book of Records for its 240 records! Initially, it was designed to transport spaceships.
An-225 was leased by many countries of the world for cargo transportation, which is beyond the power of any of the currently existing airliners, because the “Dream” transports nothing but passenger planes! Several wings, tails and fuselages are only a small part of the cargo transported by the An-225.

The helicopter was invented by the Ukrainian Ihor Sikorsky.
On April 17, 1941, aircraft designer Igor Sikorsky demonstrated the world’s first amphibious helicopter on a floating landing gear to a stunned American public.
It was a modified VS-300. The helicopter took off from the water and landed on land.

The kerosene lamp was invented in Ukraine.
The first kerosene lamp was invented in Lviv by workers of the “Under the Golden Star” pharmacy, Ignatius Lukasevich and Yan Zech, in 1853. In the same year, the first surgical operation was performed in the Lviv hospital under the illumination of a kerosene lamp.
Subsequently, the kerosene lamp was presented at an international exhibition in Munich, the invention was recognized there with a special certificate.
