The path “from the Varangians to the Greeks” passes through Ukraine.

 Heard about the path “from the Varangians to the Greeks”? It passed through Ukraine and was one of the largest trade waterways. It was 3,000 km long and connected the north of Kievan Rus and Byzantium.

 This route ran from the Varyaz (Baltic) Sea through the Gulf of Finland along the Neva River, Lake Ladoga, then the Volkhov River, Lake Ilmen, the Lovattya River, then towed by boats to the Dnieper River, swimming on the Dnieper River, then through the Russian (Black) Sea along the western shore to Tsargorod (now Istanbul). Also, their route changed — along the Odra to Krakow in Halychyna via Zvenigorod, Plisnesk, Halych.

The oldest settlement on the territory of Ukraine was found at the Mezyrytsky parking lot.

 Scientists testify that the oldest settlement of an intelligent person was found at the Mezhiritskaya parking lot. A map was also found there, which is one of the oldest maps ever found. Its age is 15,000 years. Where do you think archaeologists found the earliest settlement of the Intelligent Man and the map made by these first Homo Sapiens?  It is probably the oldest map found, created 15,000 to 17,000 years ago. It is stamped on a mammoth tusk, has seven rows of drawings. Most of the objects in the parking lot in the village of Mezhyrich, Kaniv district, Cherkasy region, are made of the same mammoth material.

 It was found in 1965 by one of the local residents, Z.N. Novytskyi. He tried to dig a cellar and dug up a mammoth jaw at a depth of 2 meters. And the school teacher R. V. Golovko told about it to the Institute of Zoology of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR. And already their employee V. I. Svystunov conducted the first survey and discovered the sites of ancient people from the Late Paleolithic period.
